India’s Day 4 at Paris Olympics 2024: Today is the fourth day of the Paris Olympics 2024, and all eyes were on 10 m Air Pistol Mixed Team event in which Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh were competing against the South Korean team. The duo defeated the Korean team to secure the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics. Ace shooter Bhaker scripted history to become the first Indian athlete in the post-independence era to win two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Games. Indian men's hockey team beat Ireland 2-0 in their 3rd pool match. In rowing, Balraj Panwar finished fifth in single sculls quarterfinals and will now fight for 13-24 places. Indian players in hockey, archery, boxing and Badminton will also compete in other sports events today.

Taking to microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Manu-Sarabjot duo for their achievement at the Paris Olympics 2024, saying, “Our shooters continue to make us proud!”

Shooting

10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Bronze Medal Match: Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh defeated South Korea to secure the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, marking a historic achievement at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday.

The Indian pair defeated the Koreans 16-10 to earn the country its second medal at the quadrennial showpiece. In the process, Bhaker became the first Indian post-independence to bag two medals in a single edition of the Games.

Trap Men's Qualification: Prithviraj finished in the 21st position, which ended his hopes of going past the qualification round. Prithviraj struggled and had a tough outing after he finished in 30th rank after three rounds. In the fourth round, he shot 25 out of 25 and moved five places up to the 25th spot.

Trap Women's Qualification: Indian women's trap shooters, Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh, were completely off-target at Paris Olympics on Tuesday. Rajeshwari shot 68 out of 75 over three rounds of qualification on Day 1 to be placed 21st among 30 competitors, while Shreyasi was further down at 22nd.

The two will play two more qualification rounds on Wednesday before the top-six finalists are decided.

Rowing

Men's single sculls quarterfinals: Balraj Panwar finished fifth in his quarterfinal heat race of the men's single sculls event in the Paris Olympics 2024 Day 4 and will now fight for minor positions.

The 25-year-old clocked 7 minutes and 5.10 seconds in quarterfinals heat 4 to be relegated to semifinals C/D, meant for rowers to compete for positions 13th to 24th.

Men's Pool B Match: The Indian men's hockey team beat Ireland 2-0 in their third pool match competition at the Paris Olympics.

Badminton

Men's doubles (Group stage): Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeat Indonesia's Fajar Alfian & Rian Ardianto 21-13, 21-13; sail into the Quarter Finals

Women's Doubles (Group stage): Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa lost 21-15, 21-10 against Australia's Setyana Mapasa and Angela Yu in the women's doubles Group C match on Tuesday.

It was the Indian duo's third consecutive defeat at the La Chapelle Arena as they finished their Paris 2024 Olympics campaign at the bottom of their group standings.

Women's Individual 1/32 Elimination Round: Bhajan Kaur advances to pre-quarterfinals of women's individual archery event with back-to-back victories at the Paris Olympics.
