The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is round the corner as the mega event is set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25. All the 10 teams - Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) - have already announced their retention list.
Five franchises - CSK, Gujarat Titans, LSG, Mumbai Indians and SRH - have retained five players each while the likes of Delhi Capitals, RCB and PBKS retained four, three, and two players respectively. While the likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have been retained by their respective franchises, there were a few big names who will be going into the auction pool. Among them are KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep SIngh and IPL 2024 title-winning captain Shreyas Iyer.
Punjab Kings, having retained just two players, go into the mega auction with most of the purse ( ₹110.5 crore) while Rajasthan Royals have the least amount of money - ₹41 crore. In total, 46 players have been retained by all 10 franchises.
The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to be a crazy two-day event in Saudi Arabia. At the auction, all eyes will be on the likes of Delhi Capitals, KKR, RCB and PBKS as these four franchises need a captain with Rahul, Pant and Iyer expected to fetch a huge sum of money.
