Himachal Pradesh news: A footbridge and three makeshift sheds, including a liquor shop, were washed away following a flash flood triggered by a cloudburst in Tosh Nullah in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district.

Himachal Pradesh news: A cloudburst has caused severe disruption in the Samej Khad area of Rampur region in Shimla district, resulting in 36 people being reported missing. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that as soon as the information about the incident was received, the NDRF team, SDRF team, police, and rescue team left for the site of the incident. He also mentioned that drones are being utilised to help find the missing individuals.

As reported by ANI,  36 people are missing and 2 bodies have been recovered so far after a cloudburst in the Samej Khad of ​​Rampur area in Shimla district.

While speaking to news agency PTI, Kashyap said that roads have been washed away and a hydro power project in the area has also been damaged.

Advisory issued

HP Traffic, Tourist & Railways Police in an advisory said, “During the monsoon season, due to unexpected heavy rains, the water level of the Beas River is rising. As a result, the Pandoh Dam, and Larji Dam will release water through their gates to manage the increased flow and silt. The Himachal Pradesh government has issued an advisory urging people to stay away from the riverbanks during this time and to ensure that children and animals are kept away as well.”

Orange alert issued

The regional meteorological office has issued an 'orange' alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, in isolated areas across all districts of Himachal Pradesh, except for Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti today.

The weather office also cautioned about the risk of landslides and flash floods in susceptible areas of Kullu, Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla, and Kinnaur districts. They also warned of potential damage to crops, plantations, fragile structures, and unpaved houses due to strong winds and waterlogging in low-lying regions.
