Fire breaks out in high rise building in Kalyan

A fire broke out in a high rise residential building in Kalyan area of Thane district on Tuesday evening.

The fire incident took place on the 15th floor of 17 storey Vertex Soliaire building in Kalyan.

Soon, the fire tenders were rushed to the spot at around 6.30 pm to douse the flames. The rescue work is underway.

The reason behind the fire is not known yet.

"Fire broke out on the 15th floor of 17 storey Vertex Soliaire building in Kalyan. Fire brigade and police have reached the spot and rescue work is underway," said Thane additional CP Sanjay Jadhav.

No casualties were reported in the blaze. 

Noida building fire

A woman and her two children trapped on the third floor of a society building in Noida were rescued after a fire broke out on the ground floor, officials said on Tuesday.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

The fire, that broke out late Monday at Mayur Gold Apartment in Balaji Enclave Society of Bisrakh area, destroyed six vehicles on the ground floor, they said.

Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Choubey said that on Monday night, the blaze was caused by a short circuit on the ground floor of the building.

Upon receiving information, four fire tenders were dispatched to the site. The fire was brought under control after 30 minutes, he said.

During the incident, a woman on the third floor with her two children shouted for help, following which fire department personnel and police safely evacuated them, the CFO added.

He said that there were no casualties in the incident.

Bilaspur fire

A 21-year-old disabled woman died after a fire broke out at her home in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Manjhedwan village of the district, when the woman, who belonged from a poverty line family, was alone at her home while her mother had gone to bring grass, they said.

The girl was warming herself near the stove when her clothes accidently caught fire. In an attempt to escape, she ran towards the bed, which also caught fire, Panchayat Pradhan Pankaj Chandel said.

Upon hearing the noise, the neighbours ran to extinguish the fire and took the girl out of the room, Chandel said.

The girl was taken Ghumarwin Hospital by locals, from where she was referred to AIIMS, Bilapur and then to IGMC Shimla. She died during treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College & Hospital (IGMC), the officials said.
