Haryana Assembly Polls 2024: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday released its first list of 20 candidates amid alliance talks with Congress for the Haryana Assembly elections 2024. The party has fielded its Haryana unit vice president Anurag Dhandha from Kalayat, Vikas Nehra from Meham, and Bijender Hooda from Rohtak.
Indu Sharma will contest from Bhiwani, Narendra Sharma from Pundri and Gurpal Singh from Naraingrarh.
The talks between the two parties seems to have been stuck over the number of seats to be contested by the Arvind Kejriwal's party, with the AAP demanding 10 seats and the Congress offering five in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.
After releasing the first list of 20 candidates for state Assembly polls, AAP Haryana chief Sushil Gupta said evening the party will release the second list of candidates.
"...Very soon by evening, you will get to see the second list. Now only 3 days are left for nomination, so within 3 days all the candidates have to be lined up, for which scrutiny is going on. Aam Aadmi Party is a good and strong option in Haryana. I do not want to get into the politics of allegations and counter-allegations. We are fighting the battle to change the system of Haryana...," Gupta said.
“...Aam Aadmi Party is fighting a political battle to change the system and workers of Aam Aadmi Party are standing firm on the field with full patience. We have shown our patience and after that, we released our list. I think the result will be positive for Haryana and BJP will be removed from Haryana…” he added.
Earlier today, Gupta announced that the party will release the names of candidates from all the 90 seats if the alliance talks with Congress is not finalised by the evening.
"We will release the list of candidates for the 90 seats by the evening," Gupta told PTI said when he was asked regarding the alliance talks with the grand old party.
Gupta said the party has been waiting for a response from Congress but the grand old party has not come out with its response so far.
The Haryana unit chief further said the party workers are ready to strongly contest all the 90 Assembly seats the state.
It is important to note that AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been holding talks with Deepak Babaria of Congress over a prospective alliance. Chadha on Sunday said that both the parties are hopeful for a successful outcome.
Chadha said both the parties are trying to forge an alliance by keeping aside their individual aspirations. He, however, added that the Aam Aadmi Party will not proceed with the alliance with the grand old party "if there is no win-win situation".
"The talks are happening in a positive atmosphere. Both parties are working towards contesting the elections together, prioritizing unity and the demands of the people of Haryana, while setting aside individual party and candidate aspirations," the AAP MP said.
