Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on Tuesday that the revised final result of the NEET-UG 2024 exam would be declared within the next two days.
The result and the toppers’ list were revised after the Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that the compensatory marks given to a selected group of students for a Physics question be taken back.
Earlier, the National Testing Agency had agreed to compensate a few students with additional marks because the incorrect answer they marked was based on an erroneous reference in their old Class 12 NCERT science textbook.
In a major setback to unsuccessful aspirants of NEET-UG 2024, the Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the pleas seeking cancellation and re-test of the controversy-ridden exam, holding that there was no evidence on record to conclude that it was “vitiated” on account of “systemic breach” of its sanctity.
The NEET-UG scorecard to be declared, along with the final result, is the third one issued for 2024’s medical entrance exam. The first one was issued on June 4, along with the result.
The scorecards were revised after the NTA had conducted a re-test for 1,563 candidates.
The NEET-UG 2024 exam for admission to MBBS, BDS and other medical courses was held on May 5 across 4,750 centres. Nearly 24 lakh students had appeared in the exam.
