Paris Olympics 2024 day 11 highlights: Vinesh Phogat scripted history on Tuesday after becoming the first Indian woman to qualify for the final match in the women's wrestling event in the ongoing 2024 Summer Games. Meanwhile, India's golden boy Neeraj Chopra met the expectations after he topped the field in the men’s javelin throw qualification round and secured his spot in the final round.

India's dream to win gold in hockey after 44 years was shattered after the Harmanpreet Singh-led team lost the semi-final match against Germany on Tuesday, August 6. Now, the team will compete for the bronze medal.

Neeraj Chopra qualifies for final

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra kicked off his journey to retain his title of ‘India's golden boy’ on Tuesday after he topped the qualification round and made his way into the finals. Chopra maintained his lead after logging a season-best 89.34m throw.

Vinesh Phogat to compete for gold today

Meanwhile, Vinesh Phogat scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to enter into finals in wrestling at the Olympics. The grappler will compete against USA's Sarah Hildebrandt in the wrestling final on Wednesday.

Vinesh, notably, became the first Indian female wrestler to make the gold medal match at the Olympics and scripted an incredible story along the way. Phogat made her way into the finals after defeating Yusneylis Guzman Lopez in the semi-final.

India's gold dream shatters in Hockey

In hockey semi-final, India were defeated by Germany by 3-2. The defeat washed away India's expectation to secure a spot in the semi-final in Hockey at the Paris Olympics 2024. However, team India will strive to replicate their bronze medal finish from Tokyo 2020.

In tennis, Indian players Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, and Manav Thakkar were unable to outperform the People’s Republic of China in the men’s team round of 16 table tennis matches.
