At Perth today, Virat Kohli slammed his 30th century on the third day of the India vs. Australia first test match. Doubts were starting to emerge about Kohli's role in the Indian team after some mediocre knocks in 2024, but the veteran batter has answered his critics in the best way possible.
“I'm not a guy who hangs around for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for the country,” said Kohli, speaking to Adam Gilchrist for the broadcasters on Sunday.
Kohli's century against Australia at the Optus Stadium is his first century after the 121 against the West Indies at Port of Spain in July 2023. Since Spain, it has been 15 innings in which he did not score a three-figure mark, reported the news agency PTI on Sunday.
The scoreboard on the third day of the first test between India and Australia was India scored 150 in 49.4 overs in the first innings. Australia scored 104 in 51.2 overs in the first innings.
India's second innings performance was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 161 runs and was then caught out by Steven Smith; Mitchell Marsh was bowling the over. K.L.
