Delhi Capitals opened its account on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 auction by logging in former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis for 2 crore. Mukesh Kumar was the second player to be acquired for 8 crore. Delhi Capitals used their Right To Match (RTM) option to snap up pacer Mukesh Kumar after Punjab Kings raised the final bid from 6.50 crore.

Darshan Nalkande, Tripurana Vijay and Ajay Mandal came onboard for 30 lakh on Monday. Delhi Capitals bought Vipraj Nigam at the base price of 50 lakh. Sri Lankan right-arm fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera, who is renowned for his speed and in swinging deliveries, was bought for 75 lakh.

Manvanth Kumar L, who plays cricket as batting allrounder, was snapped up for 30 lakh. Other players who joined the 19-member squad included Madhav Tiwari, who was sold to DC for 40 lakh, and Donovan Ferreira, who was bought for 75 lakh.

India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul and ace Australian pacer Mitchell Starc headlined the buys for Delhi Capitals on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Rahul and Starc were acquired for 14 crore and 11.75 crore respectively, Aussie youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk was retained for 9 crore using the Right to Match card.

Englishman Harry Brook was snapped up for 6.25 crore, while Indian players T Natarajan and Karun Nair were acquired for 10.75 crore and 50 lakh, respectively, in the latter half of the day.

Delhi Capitals also acquired the services of domestic players Sameer Rizvi ( 95 lakh) and Ashutosh Sharma ( 3.80 crore) respectively along with experienced pacer Mohit Sharma ( 2.20 crore).

Delhi Capitals have named Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao as head coach and Director of Cricket replacing Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly respectively. They have also roped in former India pacer Munaf Patel as the bowling coach.

Badani said, "Pretty elated with the buys. We have enough clarity as to how we go about in the auction. We've kind of reaped the rewards of being well-strategised and well-planned."
