Legendary tennis player and 20-time grand slam champion Roger Federer shared the stage with the British rock band Coldplay. Federer joined Coldplay for a song during their concert in Zurich, Switzerland, on Saturday.
The rock band has shared the stage with many guests during the course of last year as part of its 'Music of the Spheres' world tour. Many popular celebrities that shared the stage with Coldplay before Federer include Bruce Springsteen, Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches, Craig David and Lupe Fiasco.
Federer joined Coldplay on stage at Zurich's Stadion Letzigrund. He joined the band's lead singer Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion.
The tennis legend was welcomed on stage by Chris Martin with a made-up story about how Federer was part of the original band for three months in 1996 but left to become the greatest tennis player ever. He said, “In 1996, we had 5 members but the fifth member played percussion and he stayed with us for about three months, and then he said, screw this. I am gonna go and become the greatest tennis player of all time. But today he is here to play percussion again”
Roger Federer shared pictures of the Coldplay's event including one where the tennis star and his wife Mirka Federer joined the other members of the band for a huddle backstage. Federer captioned his post saying, ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’
Meanwhile, Coldplay also shared a video of the event when Federer joined the British band onstage with the caption. “Is there anything this man can’t do? Thank you for coming back to us”
