Republican US Presidential candidate for the upcoming election, Donald Trump, will participate in an interview with Elon Musk on Monday night, August 12.
“ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK — Details to follow!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday.
There is no further detail about Elon Musk-Donald Trump interview as of now. The billionaire, who runs Tesla and SpaceX, has been a staunch supporter of Donald Trump for years. With US Presidential Elections set to take place in a few months, there were reports stating that Musk is planning to donate $45m a month to a Super PAC (Political Action Committee) focused on getting Trump elected. The claim has been rejected by Tesla CEO Elon Musk multiple times
According to the Federation Election Commission, Super Pac are committees that can receive unlimited contributions from individuals and corporations for supporting a political party or candidate.
Despite Elon Musk's clarification on reports claiming his plans to donate $45 million a month to Super PAC, one of such committees, spearheaded by Musk, is facing government scrutiny.
Elon Musk is also the owner of social media company X, formerly known as Twitter. Earlier, Donald Trump was an avid user of the micro-blogging site X. However, his account was banned on the social media platform amid allegations of instigating the January 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol by a mob of pro-Trump supporters. After Elon Musk's takeover of the company, the social media platform lifted the ban on former US President Donald Trump.
Donald Trump continues to be active on another social media platform ‘Truth Social’. The company is owned by Trump Media and is a publicly traded firm. Majority stakes at the firm are owned by former US President Donald Trump. Most of the public announcements by Trump are made on Truth Social.
