Siddharth Mallya, son of fugitive Indian businessman Vijay Mallya, announced his upcoming wedding to his fiancé, Jasmine on Instagram on June 18. The couple, who have been together for several years, will tie the knot in London later this week.
In an Instagram post, Siddharth shared a photo of himself and Jasmine posing in a flower-adorned frame, captioned, “Wedding week has commenced." The post shows the couple hugging and smiling, celebrating their impending nuptials.
Siddharth proposed to Jasmine during Halloween last year in November, sharing the moment with his followers on Instagram. Dressed as a pumpkin, he is seen on one knee proposing to Jasmine, who was dressed as a witch.
Now, months later, Mallya shared the good news of his marriage with Jasmine with his Instagram family.
Despite the joyous news, Siddharth’s Instagram announcement also drew attention to his father's controversial past.
While many people congratulated the former model-turned-author on his upcoming wedding, the comments also included reminders of his father's financial scandals.
One user wrote, “Pessa dedo bhai hamara,” referencing the unpaid loans, while others offered heartfelt congratulations and expressed admiration for Siddharth’s openness about his personal struggles.
“Congratulations. So happy for you, Sid. Started admiring you since you opened up with your struggles. So much love,” wrote another Instagram user.
“Looking great wish yoooou a veryyyy happpyyy married lifffeeee,” commented another user.
“Congratulations Such an awesome news,” wrote another.
Vijay Mallya, the former owner of Kingfisher Airlines and the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore, fled to the UK after defaulting on loans worth $1.1 billion from 17 Indian banks. He is under investigation by several agencies, including the Income Tax Department and the Central Bureau of Investigation, for financial fraud and money laundering charges.
