Mumbai rains: Due to ongoing heavy rains in Mumbai, flights to and from the city have been affected. Both IndiGo and Air India have issued advisories for passengers regarding the disruptions.
Taking to X, “Ongoing heavy rains and air traffic congestion in #Mumbai continue to impact flights.”
Air India wrote on X, “Heavy rains in Mumbai are affecting flight operations and resulting in cancellation and diversion of some of our flights. Air India is offering full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling for bookings confirmed for travel on 25th July 2024.”
Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and its suburbs, leading to waterlogged roads, traffic jams, and delays in local train services.
Maharahstra CM Eknath Shinde said that an orange alert had been sounded in Mumbai for the next three hours.
"I appeal to the people to cooperate with the administration to move to safer places. In Mumbai, an 'orange' alert has been sounded for the next 3 hours. I have spoken to the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner to take all measures. 222 water pumps are working to drain excess water in different areas," he said.
He added, "There is water accumulated on railway tracks in the Kurla and Ghatkopar areas. Work is being done to open the Andheri subway, which is closed right now. I appeal to Mumbaikars not to venture outside, if not required. I have also spoken to Raigad Collector and directed him to remain alert."
