A food delivery agent died while three others were injured after an Audi car crashed into two bikes within few minutes in Pune, police said. The incident occurred during early hours on Friday, after which Pune police detained the accused driver shortly after he tried to flee from the accident site.
Pune Additional Commissioner of Police, Manoj Patil on Friday said, “A food delivery executive on a two-wheeler died after being hit by a luxury car in Mundhwa area of Pune city around 2 am today." He added, "The driver of the car fled the scene immediately after the accident but was subsequently detained by the Police. The Police are conducting further investigation into the incident,” reported ANI.
According to India Today report, the accused car driver first rammed into a two-wheeler that resulted in injuries to the individuals. Some time later, the Audi hit the food delivery agent's motorcycle from behind. The deceased identified as Rauf Shaikh reportedly succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
The incident reported from Mundhwa area of Pune occurred at 1:35 am, the police said. "The accused hit a two-wheeler first, injuring three people. He further hit a bike on which the deceased Rauf Shaikh was travelling. The car hit him in the back, causing serious injuries to him. He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead,” ANI quoted a senior Pune police officer as saying.
The police traced the accused Ayush Tayal by investigating the CCTV footage of the area. Subsequently his car was located and the accused was arrested from his residence in the Hadapsar area. The police officer added, "After the incident, 34-year-old Ayush Tayal fled from the crime scene. Upon investigation of the CCTV footage, his car was identified and he was subsequently arrested," he added.
Several charges have been levied against the accused under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 105, 281, 125(a), 132, 119,1 77, 184 at Mundhwa Police Station.
