Suraj Revanna promised job, high political stature to JD(S) worker during sexual assault: ’Will be better next time’

Karnataka MLC Suraj Revanna, who was arrested earlier today for the alleged sexual abuse of a 27-year-old male Janta Dal (Secular) party worker, had reportedly promised the victim a job and a high political stature "if he agreed to be with him", according to the FIR.

Suraj Revanna is the brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna who is facing allegations of sexually abusing several women.

During the alleged assault, Suraj had also told the victim that the sex would be "better next time" since it was just the first time the 27-year-old was having sex with him.

The MLC, according to news agency PTI report citing police sources, was arrested in Hassan on charges of "unnatural offences".

Here are the horrific details of the JD(S) worker's ordeal at Suraj Revanna's farmhouse in Gannikada on June 16 that the FIR unravels:

• Suraj invited the 27-year-old to his farmhouse on June 16 and asked him to come between 6:00 pm to 6:15 pm. At the appointed time, the victim reached Suraj's farmhouse.
• According to the FIR, Suraj directed the JD(S) worker to shut the door as he entered the room. Without warning, the MLC placed his hands on the victim's shoulders, then caressed his ears before kissing him.

• The subtle advance escalated quickly as Suraj bit the party worker's lips and promised him career support if he consented to be with him.
• On protesting the advances, Suraj threatened to kill the victim as he invoked the Revanna family's influence. The MLC then dragged the victim to his bedroom, where he hugged him tightly, bit his cheeks, and touched his private parts.
• The assault continued as Suraj Revanna forced the party worker into unwanted physical acts, engaging in oral and anal sex despite the latter's clear discomfort and pleas for cessation, the FIR stated.

• Suraj Revanna has tried rationalising the sexual assault by saying that it would get easier with time as the victim cried and begged him to stop.
• According to the FIR, Suraj then kissed the victim and assured him of help in growing his political stature, and that he would get him a job. However, Suraj said that all these things would only happen if the victim would obey him at all costs and meet him whenever he wished to and respond to his messages properly.

• Suraj then demanded an apology from the victim for not cooperating with him during his advances and asked him to reply to his message once he returned home.
• He also asked the 27-year-old to “relax” and wished him good night.
