The high-profile Sheena Bora murder trial has met with a major roadblock as a key piece of evidence has reportedly gone missing. The development is likely to weaken the case against accused Indrani Mukerjea.

There was an extensive search carried out to locate the items examined by the forensic expert related to the murder trial, however, nothing was found, Special Public Prosecutor CJ Nandode told the court, reported ANI citing Sangle.

Repercussions of ‘untraceable’ remains in the trial

Remains of the victim in the case served as a crucial evidence against the accused. The initial examination of the remains were conducted by JJ Hospital forensic expert Dr Zeba Khan. Khan had confirmed that the collected evidence were of a human body. The examination was crucial to establish prosecution's story, reported ANI. Since the evidence is ‘reportedly’ missing, Dr Khan's testimony would be taken without considering bones as evidence. Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case was granted bail by the Supreme Court in May 2022.
