Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Donald Trump on Wednesday following his ‘spectacular victory’ in the US elections. Both leaders also reaffirmed their commitment towards world peace during the interaction. Sources indicate that Trump also revealed to Modi that the Indian politician was one of the first world leaders he spoke to after his victory.
“Had a great conversation with my friend, President Donald Trump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors,” Modi wrote on X.
According to an ANI report quoting sources, President-elect Trump also stated that the whole world loves PM Modi and dubbed him a ‘magnificent man’. He also reiterated that India was a ‘magnificent’ country.
The two leaders enjoy a strong rapport built during Trump's previous term in office. The President-elect had also made his inaugural visit to India in 2020 for the Namaste Trump event. His Indian counterpart had visited Texas for the ‘Howdy Modi’ event in September 2019.
World leaders raced to congratulate Donald Trump on Wednesday as he triumphed in a stunning US election victory over Kamala Harris. PM Modi had also taken to X with a congratulatory message for "my friend" Trump. He also posted a medley of images featuring the two leaders laughing and hugging each other at various events alongside the post.
“Heartiest congratulations my friend Donald Trump on your historic election victory. As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity,” he wrote on the social media platform.
