Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant tied the knot on Friday in a lavish ceremony attended by celebrities from across the world. The star-studded guest list included WWE champion-turned-actor John Cena — who made waves with his ‘desi’ outfit and bhangra moves.
Visuals shared online showed the actor striking his signature ‘you can’t see me’ pose for the paparazzi in a powder blue bandhgala suit. The move was also incorporated into his dance steps — presumably at the baarat event ahead of the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding.
Footage shared by the hosts also showed hundreds of revellers dancing enthusiastically inside the venue wearing traditional Indian dress.
The wedding ceremony will be followed by two additional days of festivities — the lagna vidhi on Friday, followed by a restricted reception on Saturday and a gala reception on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the function on Saturday.
The event also comes mere days after Cena announced his retirement from professional wrestling in 2025 after two decades in the ring. He promised a farewell tour with dozens of dates and an epic final fight, and assured fans that he would remain involved with the wrestling franchise that launched his career.
Several prominent celebrities — including Kim and Khloe Kardashian — landed in Mumbai this week for the wedding. The socialite sisters had earlier shared Instagram stories that showed their vehicle being mobbed by the paparazzi. They also posted updates after being welcomed at the hotel with flower garlands and while taking an autorickshaw ride through the city.
The wedding follows several extravagant pre-nuptial ceremonies — including a three-day event in Jamnagar with around 1200 guests. The attendees included Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft's Bill Gates, BlackRock co-founder Larry Fink, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Saudi Aramco chairman Yasir Al Rumayyan as well as a performance by Rihanna.
The celebrations travelled overseas in June when guests embarked on a luxury cruise along the stunning azure coastline of the Tyrrhenian Sea in Italy, to the French Mediterranean and featured performances by Backstreet Boys, singer Katy Perry and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.
Justin Bieber performed at the 'sangeet' ceremony last week.
