Four people, including the driver and the conductor of a Himachal Pradesh Road and Transport Corporation (HRTC) died after the bus met with an accident in Shimla district on June 21.
The mishap took place in Kenchi area of Jubbal when the bus which was enroute to Kuddu-Diltari in Rohru area of the Shimla district fell off the mountain road into the gorge below.
According to Rohan Chand Thakur, Managing Director of HRTC, “The accident took place at 6:45 am after the bus overturned on the road. In total there were 5 passengers plus the driver and conductor. Three injured have been admitted to a local hospital in Rohru,” as quoted by news agency ANI.
The deceased have been identified as Karam Dass (driver), Rakesh Kumar (conductor), Birma Devi, and Dhan Shah, a resident of Nepal.
CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took to social media to express his condolences. He wrote, “It is very sad to hear about the death of four people including the driver and conductor in the HRTC depot bus going from Kuddu to Giltari in Jubbal area of Shimla district this morning. I pray for peace to the souls of those killed in this accident and strength to their families.”
He added, “The district administration has been instructed to provide immediate relief to the dead and injured. All possible help has also been asked to be provided for treatment to the three people injured in the incident.”
