DA hike news: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai of Chhattisgarh has announced a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance for state employees, bringing it to 50% of their basic salary.

DA hike news: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has announced that the Dearness Allowance (DA) of state government employees will be increased by 4 per cent, taking it to 50 per cent of the basic salary.

The decision will benefit nearly 3.9 lakh state government employees and the hike will be effective from October 1 this year, officials said.

As the Diwali festival is approaching, the government has decided to increase DA by 4 per cent, bringing it at par with the central government, Sai said while speakig to reporters.

The CMO in a statement said, “Chief Minister Shri @vishnudsai gave Diwali gift to the state employees. Announcement of increasing dearness allowance from 46% to 50%. State employees will get the benefit of dearness allowance from October 1. Chief Minister's big announcement before the cabinet meeting- Dearness Allowance increased by 4%”

Earlier in March this year, Chief Minister Saini had announced a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance for government employees in the state. This decision was made prior to the Lok Sabha elections, which took place between April and June.

 

What is Dearness Allowance?

Dearness Allowance (DA) is a percentage of the basic salary paid to employees to offset the impact of inflation on their cost of living. It is adjusted periodically, usually every six months, to account for changes in the cost of living index.

3% DA hike for central govt employees

The Union Cabinet has cleared a 3 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees ahead of Diwali, NDTV reported today i.e. on October 16.

With this hike, the DA is now increased to 53 per cent. This change is expected to benefit over a crore central government employees and pensioners, with employees also likely to receive arrears.
