Maharashtra election: Congress 2nd candidate list for 23 seats declared; check all names here

Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Congress releases a second list of candidates for twenty-three seats for the upcoming state assembly polls in Maharashtra.

The grand old party has nominated Dr Rajesh Tukaram Manvatkar from Bhusawal, Swati Sandeep Wakekar from Jalgaon, Mahesh Gangane from Akot, etc.

In the first list for the Maharashtra Assembly polls, Congress fielded candidates for 48 seats. The grand old party's first list was released nearly a day after the Maha Vikas Aghadi announced that they would contest 85 seats each in the November 20 polls.

Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance

The tri-party coalition, Maha Vikas Aghaadi, includes Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party, and Shiv Sena (UBT). The coalition announced its seat-sharing formula for 255 constituencies on Wednesday and allocated 85 seats to each political party.

According to the seat-sharing formula, some of the seats will be allocated to the Samajwadi Party, PWP, and CPI.

Key names in Congress second list for Maharashtra polls

In the second list for upcoming state assembly polls, the party has fielded Anuja Kedar, wife of MLA Sunil Kedar, from Savner. Sunil Kedar was recently convicted in a corruption case and disqualified from the constituency. Senior party leader Girish Pandey was nominated from Nagpur South, whereas, Lahu Kanade was dropped from Shrirampur and Hemant Ogale was nominated from the seat. 

Party has fielded Rajkumar Lotuji Puram from Amgaon-ST, Vasant Chinduji Purke from Ralegaon, Balasaheb Shankarrao Mangulkar from Yavatmal, Jitendra Shivajirao Moghe from Ami-ST, Sahebrao Dattrao Kamble from Umarkhed-SC, Kalias Kisanrao Gortantyal from Jalna, Madhukar Krishnarao Deshmukh from Aurangabad East constituency.

Additionally the party has also fielded Vijay Govind Patil from Vasai, Kalu Badheliya from Kandivali East, Yashwant Jayprakash Singh from Charkop, Ganesh Kumar Yadav from Sion Koliwada, Hemant Ogale from Shrirampur-SC, Abhaykumar Satishrao Salunkhe from Nilanga and Ganpatrao Appasaheb Patil from Shirol constituency.

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed that all the three coalition partners of MVA will contest from 85 seats each.

Maharashtra Assembly Elections will be held on November 20, and counting for all 288 constituencies will be held on November 23.
